I blame Perry Farrel for famously leaving dreadlocks places while on tour with Jane’s Addiction in the nineties. Eventually, hot topic started carrying fake dreads you could just clip right in. Even in your favorite punk rock and goth colors.

In the eighties, people were hardcore and took scissors and whatever chemical would color their hair and just went for it. Mohawks, devil locks, madonna, it all came and went. Big hair bands desperately in need of conditioner, and lots of pop divas with wild curls. The nineties brought a lack of grooming as fashion (grunge) and things like facial piercings (another thanks Perry and his nosering).

Now its the new milennium, and we have some of the most shallow, boring celebrities ever. But they look really good, and that’s what is important, right? Nobody really cares if Britney Spears is happy, it matters not if Paris Hilton is miserable. They are famous and good looking, so we have to pay attention to them.

Britney Spears, well we’ve all seen the headlines. The images of this chick with bad extensions are all over the net. We prefer her completely bald. Shaving her head was one of the coolest things she’s done, but too bad she has taken to really bad hairstyles while it grows out. Just terrible. To the point that this chick is finally making some big comeback performance at the VMA’s, two kids later, yet she just couldn’t get her weave right.

You see, I myself once had blonde hair extensions and really short hair. I was a victim of the dreaded inbetween hairstyle phase, and because I really wanted to grow my hair out I didn’t want to cut it. So I resorted to extensions. Let me tell you, not fun.

First, you sit in a chair for hours and hours while they braid little cornrow tracks along your scalp where they are going to stitch the extensions. Then, they place them and stitch them in, and it pulls your scalp every which way and often results in a headache. When your hair starts growing out, they pull, and you cannot at any time really pull a hairbrush through your hair over your scalp (which feels good).

Eventually, you want to rip these things out and little bald spots appear where your hair starts to break off where the cornrows start and end. Really terrible. I ended up having little bald spots on the sides of my head by my temple. In the end it was cool to have long hair without the wait, but it I had to go through that all the time - and not to mention the expense - I’d be an unhappy camper.

So Britney Spears is rocking the bad extensions, meanwhile Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson have their own lines of hair extensions for sale. And within the last weeks since Paris has gotten out of jail, she has stopped wearing hair extensions. Its almost like with all the Britney drama, Paris doesn’t want to be seen with tacky extensions anymore.

Ah yes, that messy pile of hair. The towering rat’s nest that just screams diva. Its the beehive. Honorable mentions are Barbarella, Priscilla Presley, Diana Ross, Elvira, and of course Amy Winehouse.

Today we take a look at what is called Heavy Metal Hair. How do you get a realistic metal hair look? Well one thing for sure, you have to let your hair grow long. If your hair isn’t at least touching your shoulders, its not metal. That should be step 1: let your hair grow. Get some of that horsehair conditioner they sell at the local drug store, and sport a ponytail for a while. You can also take biotin which is a natural substance in fruit that will make your hair grow fast!

So you’ve grown your hair out, or its already long and you are going for a serious metal look. Step 2: Cease all use of conditioner. Conditioner is like cryptonite to metal hair. You probably should stop using shampoo and conditioner altogether, but we aren’t necessarily going for a heavy metal smell. You get the idea.

Now what to do if you have curly hair? Well, you’re going to have to find a smoothing lotion and have lots of length in your locks to get that sort of Slash curl. Have you seen this Posh Spice and her new ‘do? Victoria Beckham, wife of famed soccer hunk David Beckham, recently reinvented her look with the coolest blonde washed short angled bob. Messy, yet classy. And definitely lots of attitude. It suits her and her posh posture quite well. I predict females across the globe are scrambling for this look!

And a warm welcome to the USA to the Beckhams! Personally I have never been a Spice Girl fan, nor a Soccer/Football fan, so all this hype over Posh and Becks has to turn into something, right? At least they have style, that is what counts.

This drunken diva slurs it up on the mic, and her trademark messy jet black bee-hivish hairdo is being copied by chicks all over the world! I have already seen pictures of dozens of chicks with this hairstyle. It definitely rocks!
